I used to love playing Internet poker before the US crackdown. I can't for the life of me figure out why they would want to get rid of Internet gambling. It is true that gambling is a big problem, but still, in the land of the free you would expect to spend your money doing what you want. After all, Internet gambling is one of the biggest sources of entertainment among thousands of American households. Why does Uncle Sam want to take that away?
I have to admit that there are some good things about the ban on Internet gambling, however. One of the biggest ones is that I get to spend more time with my family. I hate to admit it, but I was a little bit addicted to online gambling. Every day, I would probably spend at least three hours gambling on the Internet. Rather than reading a book, playing a musical instrument, or even watching TV with my wife, I would be sitting in the den all night long, staring at the computer screen for hours at a time. This can't be healthy for my eyes. It certainly wasn't healthy for my relationship. Without the Internet gambling, it is not a problem anymore.
That is the only good thing that the ban on Internet gambling has done for my family. My wife is a little bit paranoid about money. Although I have never lost more than a few hundred dollars gambling online, and have often made more than I have lost, she has still always worried that I would blow the family savings on online Internet casinos. You see, we know so many people who have had problems with Internet gambling before. I am a good gambler, and I know when I have reached my limit. Nonetheless, I have heard people say the same thing only to blow a fortune in a few hours. It is just too easy to be impulsive with Internet gambling. Twenty dollars over can become two hundred dollars over, and that can become two thousand dollars over. Before you know it, you have gone through all of your money.
Nonetheless, I wish there still were legal Internet gaming sites. One of my favorite things about Internet gambling was that it let me keep my game together, and now that I no longer have that resource, my poker playing has really declined. I just don't have time to go out and find a game as often as I would if I could play it on the Internet.
