Speaker Covers
I love my cats, but they are wrecking our speaker covers. For some reason they ignore everything we have bought for them to scratch on. They seem to prefer the carpet or the speakers when they have the urge to scratch something. They have done a lot of damage, and I don?t know what to do with them. I refuse to get a cat de-clawed, so I am going to have to find a way to keep them from scratching where they are not supposed to be.
The speaker covers we have are made of material, and perhaps that is the problem. They are, however, some of the best you can buy, and the speakers themselves are very expensive. My husband will skimp on a lot of things, but he won?t skimp on the speakers. The speaker covers are going to have to be replaced, though I?m not sure I want to get the same kind that we already have. I may not have a choice though, because they are made the way they are for a reason.
The most important aspect of speaker covers is indeed the material. It is there to keep the dust out of the speaker while still allowing air to flow freely in and out of the cover to get a good sound. If the speaker covers where made of plastic, the cats would stop scratching them, and the dust would stay out, but the sound would be muffled. That?s definitely not an option, and I can?t imagine why anyone would want to have muffled and garbled speakers in their home.
So I guess I am going to have to teach the cats to stop scratching at the speaker covers. I won?t get new ones until they have learned, or I will just have to go out and replace them all over again. I guess I am going to have to get out the squirt bottle and keep an eye on them all day, though I really don?t have time for that. They seem to prefer the carpet to the speaker covers, but that just means I have a torn up carpet. I guess I just have to give up a little time to the cause and get them to use the scratching post, somehow. I understand that they need to scratch, but I also understand that in appropriate scratching is costing me money and time.
