Finding mother of the bride outfits is something that almost no one ? at least no one in their right mind ? looks forward to. Nonetheless, if you are a mother of the bride plus size, it is even worse. Now I am no fatty. In my day, I was even called voluptuous. Sure my body is not stick thin like the tabloids seem to like women, but I have always thought that curves look nice on a lady. Nonetheless, buying mother of the bride dresses has been a humiliating experience for me.
Almost everywhere that I go for mother of the bride outfits, it is the same old story. All of the flattering, beautiful mother of the bride outfits are in sizes much too small. It is as if the designers do not understand that as women grow, their bodies change. There are plenty of young and skinny people, but most of us put on a few pounds as we grow older. I shouldn't have to look for a plus sized mother of the bride outfit at my girth, and if I do have to look for plus sizes, they should at least be flattering. You would think that the fashion industry was just created yesterday!
Ultimately, when you are looking at mother of the bride gowns, you probably will have to expand your search. There are certain styles of wedding dresses that are classic and popular. You cannot find a suitable bride dress at a normal dress store, but you can find a good mother of the bride outfit there. Basically, mother of the bride outfits can be anything. As long as they look good on the woman wearing them, go along with the color scheme of the wedding, and are appropriate for a formal occasion, mother of the bride outfits are at the discretion of the mother wearing them.
This is why I decided to give up on all of the normal mother of the bride outfits. I wanted something sedate. Most of the mother of the bride outfits that I have seen are too flashy for my tastes anyway. It is not as if everyone is going to be looking at the mother. They will be looking at the bride, dressed beautifully in white. In my opinion, mother of the bride gowns should be a dark blue, shimmery but understated. I have always looked excellent in navy, so navy I shall wear.
