Having kids can be challenging and wonderful at the same time. For those who leave theirs with a nanny most of the time, you certainly miss out on a ton. I don't know if these are things you wish to miss out on, but I will tell you one thing from personal experience, changing all the diapers, bathing them, burping them and helping them get to sleep is an utter blast. If you don't like it, you either weren't meant to be a parent or you're doing it wrong. With all the cool and innovative devices we have at our fingertips, these processes and routines are a breeze. You can even install a diaper changing station in your infant's room if you please. This way you'll always have an ideal spot for changing.
As parents, we all have to resort to public restrooms at times. And I'm not just referring to going potty. This is when a decent diaper changing station comes in handy. I have to admit this is why I prefer the finer department stores over the cheaper ones. The upper-scale ones like Nordstrom's and such have cool family restrooms. In these restrooms you can always expect to find a diaper changing station. This makes it so much easier to get the job done and stay out of everyone's way. I have used these public restrooms a number of times in the past when my daughter was tiny. If you're a new parent, I highly suggest you take advantage of them. I spotted a father one time changing his baby's diaper on the toilet lid. That can't be sanitary, but I do understand that sometimes we all have to make due.
Equip your home for the new one. Granted, you don't have to run out and purchase a diaper changing station that flips down from the wall. However, I do recommend that you get most things in order before the baby arrives. This will certainly make things simpler on you and those who are helping care for the baby. I must be completely frank; my idea of a diaper changing station in my home was a soft blanket on the floor. This may be a concept that goes back quite a ways, but it will always be sufficient.
