space saver bags 04 by Editorial Zone

I have always been somewhat of an expert on cleaning and organizing. My brother, who is the opposite of me, considers me a little bit obsessional. For me, however, being a neat freak is just part of living in an efficient household. It may take a little bit more time at first to organize and clean everything, but in the long run it is worth it. I love having everything where I can reach it. I have always felt that people who do not keep a clean house have to work harder than people who do.

Nonetheless, I am pretty practical about my cleaning and organizing systems. I like to use space saver plastic bins, but I do not employ anything that I consider a gimmick. Space saver vacuum bags seemed like a silly idea when I first heard about them. If you have never seen space saver bags, you probably have not watched a whole lot of infomercials. They are all over the TV. They are basically giant over sized plastic bags with a one-way valve. Each space saver bag is filled with clothes or something else flexible, rolled up, and purged of air. The theory is that the space saver bags can pack your clothes into a much smaller area.

I actually got a space saver bag as a gift from a friend. He was moving out of his house, and he found the space saver bags hidden at the bottom of his closet. He had no need for any of them except for two, so he decided to give the rest away. I am glad that he did. If he hadn't made this decision, I never would have found out how useful space saver bags can be. They really are amazing. When you roll up your clothes or fold them up, you can only get them so small. The fabric has a certain degree of natural rigidity, so it will pop out no matter how tightly you fold it.

With space saver bags, however, you can get things that much tighter. The vacuum that you creates inside of the space saver bags stops the clothing from popping out. It simply cannot expand again. If you fold it, it will stay completely flat. The only problem is that the space saver bags are not very good for long-term storage. They tend to put sharp creases in clothing, you see, so they should only be used for towels or for trips.
