nancy drew books 14 by Editorial Zone

When I was a young girl, there was one area of the school library I always rushed to. That was where the Nancy Drew books were kept. Reading one of these allowed me to leave my life for a few minutes and become a girl detective. Nancy Drew was intelligent, intuitive and always solved the case. She was the hero of my time.

It wasnt until my daughter began reading on her own that I realized this series of mysteries was still around. The covers of the Nancy Drew books look very different than they did decades ago, but the stories inside hold the same adventure and are able to capture the imagination of any young and even older reader.

Collectors are often still in search of books from the original print runs. I imagine these are difficult to find as I know when I had any Nancy Drew books Id gladly trade them with friends for titles I hadnt read yet. I can recall receiving several at birthday parties only to hear friends talking about how they wanted to read them as soon as I was done.

Not much has changed with this new generation of avid readers. Young girls still dive into the mysteries, reading page after page in search of clues. Some of the original Nancy Drew books have been reprinted which is very fun for us moms who remember how the mystery was solved. It can be difficult not to give our own clues when our daughters rush in telling us about the story.

One thing that I wasnt aware of until recently is that although one author is listed as being the writing force behind the Nancy Drew books that many different voices contributed to the series of over the years. That makes a great deal of sense when you consider that in the beginning of the Nancy Drew craze a new book was hitting the store shelves every four weeks or so.

Probably the most positive aspect of this incredibly entertaining female driven set of stories is that it not only persuaded more young girls to read, but the Nancy Drew books also helped launched the writing careers of many. Ive read in several interviews of promising new writers how they lost themselves in the books of the girl detective. Even if a young girl doesnt aspire to be the next Carolyn Keene, she can encourage her imagination and hone her own writing style. Overall this will continue to be a series of books that will impact the lives of many young women from all corners of the globe.
